English Wine Week – all the events to go to
Raise your glasses. Now’s the time to get behind English wine
English Wine Week (20-28 June 2026) is a celebration to explore and support local products and their makers. And there are plenty of events you can go to. See our comprehensive list at the end.
Over the past decade, the British wine industry has transformed into a sustainable and award-winning sector. With 1,100+ vineyards and 280 winers now operating across England and Wales, it certainly isn’t going to be slowing down anytime soon.
In 2025, the UK produced 16.4 million bottles – enough to fill Wembley Stadium to the brim! Even more impressively, English sparkling wines are now winning blind taste tests against champagne. The French are in awe of us (probably).
This industry is only growing; developing new products, planting new vineyards, and experimenting with different flavours to create something unique. English Wine Week allows for this development to be showcased and allows for people to get involved with the industry that is right on their doorstep.
How to make the most of English Wine Week
1. Taste the range
English vineyards are producing wines that exceed your expectations. These aren’t your typical whites and bubbles; there’s also pinks and even reds these days too.
These can be found in your supermarkets, independent stores, bars, and restaurants. Go out and support your local producer by drinking their wine. It’s a hard job, but someone has to, etc…
2. Visit a vineyard
What better way to taste wine than to drink it where it originates from. It’s not just about buying wine. Vineyards are a great day out for all the family (even dogs) with tours, wine-making experiences, and more.
The WineGB Producer Directory is the best place to find a vineyard near you.
3. Dine and drink local
Restaurants and bars across the UK are now putting English wines on their menus. Next time you’re out, maybe try a glass of something new. Who knows, you might find a new favourite. And chat to your waiting staff or sommelier to ask about English or British wines on the menus.
Following #DrinkEnglishWine on social media will help you spot venues that are participating in English Wine Week and stocking English wine on their menus.
4. Buy direct
Many vineyards offer a multitude of options to directly support them. From exclusive wine clubs that deliver straight to your door, to having first access to new product releases, to gifts and merchandise, there are many ways to get involved and help your local vineyard.
Instead of purchasing at your nearby supermarket, buy local. You get great tasting wine, and get to support these vineyards at the same time without doing a thing.
5. Share the love
In this age of social media, recommending or finding a new product has never been easier. Post about your favourite English wines, a new vineyard experience, or whatever you’d like. You can use #DrinkEnglishWine to keep up with your fellow wine aficionados and discuss everything relating to English wine, as well as seeing any events that are happening near you. Who knows, you might inspire someone to try something new.
